Inferno is the smallest of the 4 subzones of DOCG Valtellina Superiore: 48 hectares between Poggiridenti and Tresivio, along the slopes of the Rhaetian Alps on the right bank of the Adda in the province of Sondrio. The name is due to the steep slope and high summer temperatures, caused by the sun's reflection on the rocks. “Paradise of Bacchus is that Inferno red with embers and flame, and infused with the scent of plums and blackberries, and it is better to prefer it to Paradise,” writes Abbot Morelli in “Dionisos.”
It arises from a careful selection of corvina and rondinella, it is a red of great depth and elegance.
